2 Month Check Up

Well, today we had our 2 month check up. You know what that means... SHOTS! Jonathan took the day off to go with us as I definitely didn't want to do that by myself! Bennett is 23.75 inches long which puts him in the 75th percentile for height. He weighs 13 lbs. 7 oz. and is in the 95th percentile for weight... and his head is in the 98th percentile! Ha ha! His first vaccine was for the Rotovirus. It's an oral vaccine. He took it like a champ but then spit up in the car afterwards... so we aren't really sure if he is vaccinated against that or not! The shots were traumatic for both of us. Heck, I was crying BEFORE we even got to the doctor's office. He had to get three shots. He screamed for a few seconds but then got calmed down. We loaded him up on Tylenol afterwards and he slept a lot this afternoon! Dr. Hughes suggested we add probiotics to his reflux routine and to increase cereal in his bottle. I know she is a doctor, but Bennett has been doing some better without cereal. Remember, the chiro said babies this young can't digest starches this early as they lack the enzyme to do so. The chiro also seems to think cereal could have been causing some of the stomach pains and issues Bennett has been having. Jonathan and I made the executive decision to overrule Dr. Hughes and NOT add cereal. We are also going to try giving him his reflux medicine every  8 hours instead of every 12. Hopefully something will start working soon! This was NOT a fun experience... and we have to do it all over again in February for his four month check up and shots. :(

  1. :( Shots are hard! Kate goes Wednesday for her 4 month shots. Definitely NOT looking forward to it. She may have to get an early Christmas present because of it... or maybe just to make me feel better.
I hope the reflux gets better. Kate never had it very bad at all, but what she HAS had has been getting better and better. Maybe he will just grow out of it SOON.
