Since we were camping at the State Park for Spring Break, we decided to skip our actual church service and attend the Sunrise Service at the lake instead. It has since been added to our annual traditions and we have already booked a spot for next year!
On April 2nd, we celebrated Holden's last night at a TWO year old!
IN April, we celebrated Holden turning THREE years old! With each year that passes, I swear it goes faster and faster. He picked out his very own cake...a four wheeler, of course!!
He got his very own dune buggy... and not a hand me down from his brother. He was thrilled and B was dying for a turn to drive it! We had fun celebrating him on his actual birthday with GaGa and GeeGee, BigBig, and Gram and Papa G.
Bennett got a new hairstyle. He had been asking for a "hard part" like Uncle Abo for awhile so we had to let it grow out a bit. This was hard for me... see the pictures above. I LOVE his new style though.
My birthday was on April 7th. My granddaddy took me shopping and then we celebrated at "dirty" La Ha with family. It was a good day, but a sad day too. It was the first birthday that I was on earth for and my daddy wasn't. It was a very strange and different feeling but I did still enjoy celebrating.
The boys became NERF gun crazy. They became obsessed and have amassed quite the arsenal.
Holden and I enjoyed taking B lunch and eating with him at school. ON this particular day, he chose Evan to eat with us... (that peace sign...)
Spring is for baseball. Bennett played for the Dragons with many of his friends. It's fun to watch him improve from year to year.
In April, we also went to the rodeo with the Futches. Bennett and Greyson and good friends, Graham and Holden are good friends, and Britt and I have become good friends, too! The boys had so much fun being up close and personal to the rodeo. A few times, I got a little nervous when the horses and bulls got too close to the fence.
The boys were dying to ride the mechanical bull. Holden is generally fearless and Bennett was brave too. They had the best time!
Part of my birthday present from my brother was a Pasta Class in Greenville. It was a much needed time with my brother that didn't involve hospitals or Hospice as the previous two months had involved. It was fun to do something new. We both love to cook. We both said we will definitely do this again.
April was also time for our teeth cleaning. The boys did great!
We spent time with Big Big...
And we got to visit Bennett's school. Here is one of his pieces of work displayed in the hall. He is obsessed with all things Police, too.
We celebrated at Relay for Life in honor of so many that we love and in memory of my daddy. It was very emotional, yet healing for me in many ways. It was heartbreaking though to see how many have lost their fight. The survivor's lap also brought tears because just seeing those brave warriors who were still fighting left me in awe. This is a tradition we will continue for many years to come.
Bennett went through a cowboy phase for awhile too. We went to one of Evan's rodeos to watch Evan ride and goat rope. Holden loved the snow cones. Bennett loved the action. (Thankfully this phase was short lived as I am terrified of horses and don't love the idea of my baby being on one!)
We bought this batting practice machine. Holden has loved it more than Bennett and can't wait until it's his turn to play!
